Happy Holidays

  • Happy Holidays

Another year has come and passed at the Beyond Beige office. There have been so many new developments that we are incredibly proud of. Some of them are: joining the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association, joining the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, being nominated for their Service Excellence Award, becoming Georgie Finalists in 3 categories, being published in Vancouver Home Magazine, and winning the Consumer Choice Award, again. Other new developments include the addition of two new staff, Sarah and Mabel. Our favourite new addition to the team is baby London. We couldn’t be happier!

So much of this has been possible because of your support. Every like on Facebook, to recommending us to a friend, has helped us spread the word about Beyond Beige. We hope you continue this journey with us in 2014!

The Beyond Beige office will be closed over the holidays from:
Friday, December 20th 5PM – Monday January 6th 9AM.

Arbutus – Classic Luxury

  • Arbutus – Classic Luxury

Arbutus – Classic Luxury is located in the well-established Vancouver area of Kerrisdale. To make sure the home exemplified the quality it contained both inside and out, the exterior was completely clad in Limestone. This quality can also be seen in the character enhancing touches such as keystones and columns. This home also boasts custom iron work railings and balconies with a beautiful tiered stone walkway leading to the front porch. To further communicate its classic character we chose a wrought iron front door with scroll work and an arched top. The area has many classic homes with a variety of finishes so we felt that staying classic, but with the best possible finishes would allow it to both blend in and stand out.

This home was not built for a specific client, instead the type of buyer who would purchase in this area. Because of this, luxury design elements were injected in every space. Each of the four bedrooms is accompanied by its own ensuite; all of which have their own unique design concept. Arbutus includes all of the standard amenities of a home of this caliber such as an indoor pool, movie theater, and gym. In addition to its features the quality of this home can be found in the details. Walnut herringbone floors, natural stone, marble, leather walls, coffer ceilings, 24 carat gold dipped hardware, and a custom mosaic mural make this home one of a kind.

On A Newstand Near You

We are beyond excited to be part of the inaugural issue of Vancouver Home Magazine! It is such an honor to be featured in this well established publication that has had such great success in Montreal and Toronto. In their Late Autumn 2013 edition I sat down with them to discuss Beyond Beige’s Hamilton project in detail. The result of that interview is a 14 page feature, full of images and my inspirations. Be sure to pick it up as its on newsstands now!

Beyond Beige was chosen to complete this Bachelor Pad for our client that spends most of his time working up North. Located in Olympic Village, he wanted a place to call his own in the city. This condo is close to downtown, restaurants, art galleries and all the city has to offer. Since the project is in a completely urban environment, we wanted to create a space that incorporates a fun, city vibe seamlessly from inside the unit to out. The final result is a cool bachelor pad charm; masculine, but young and hip at once. Since the unit is long and rectangular, we chose to play up that feel with horizontal stripe wall paper in the living room. The client also loved orange we chose an orangey red accent that really pops against the grey in the rest of the space. Our client is a voracious reader hence the bookshelf wallpaper in the master bedroom.

It’s All In The Details

Our most recently completed project is ‘Main St.’ This Vancouver condo is a mix of antiques, thrift store finds, and newly purchased items. The result is a wonderfully eclectic feel, bursting with our client’s personality. We love the juxtaposition of the modern red cabinetry with the rustic wood upper shelving. In addition, the bold turquoise wallpaper in the relaxation room makes this super tiny area feel like you’ve stepped inside a jewelry box. This room is completed with the softest, shaggiest carpet we could find. Perfect for luxurious meditating! Lastly we were so glad we were able to convince our clients to let us spray paint the hanging pendant in bright gold. We all agreed it’s the perfect piece to complete the room.

We’re nearing the finish of a 7,000 square foot new build! This space boasts spectacular features that you don’t find in your average spec home. The owner of this project is a builder and he encouraged us to infuse our own original designs. One of these features is the entry chandelier. This chandelier is 12 feet long and weighs over 300 pounds! Saying it sets the tone when you enter the home would be an understatement! More of our original work can be found in the lit wall feature. This feature wall is lit with crystal led lighting and has a C&C cut overlay. It spans from the basement level, through the main floor, to the ceiling of the upper level. Some of our other favourite details include the variety of wallpaper and tile used. For example each of the six bathrooms has a vastly unique design.

Stay tuned for the completed project!

We are currently in the process of being considered in the 16th Annual Business Excellence Awards. This yearly event is put on by the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, recognizing successful companies in the community and the people behind them. Being nominated has been such an honour so thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate us! The finalists gala will be held mid September and we will be sure to keep you updated with the results.

We’ve Come A Long Way, Baby

  • We’ve Come A Long Way, Baby

Hello extended family,

This is our first newsletter amongst other firsts. I am officially back from my unofficial maternity leave. On April 15th my husband Ian and I welcomed our baby boy London Mckenzie Mackay Moore to the world; weighing in at 7 pounds 10 ounces. The pregnancy feels as if it went by in the blink of an eye. My baby bump was slow to show so many were surprised at his seemingly quick arrival. With no official maternity leave for a business owner, little time was spent away from the design studio. Since his birth, London’s regular appearances at the office brighten everyone’s day. Juggling motherhood and design has been a challenge I’ve enjoyed facing. Ian and I didn’t know that something so small could turn our lives upside down. But we also didn’t know how much we would enjoy it.

This year we are celebrating our 10 year anniversary. This was made so much sweeter by being awarded the Consumer’s Choice Award for Best Interior Design Firm in Greater Vancouver. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our success. It means the world to us!

The past two years have brought much change to our boutique design firm. Beyond Beige has relocated to the North Shore in order to accommodate the largest sample showroom in Greater Vancouver. This brings great convenience to our clients. Now you are able view all of the sample materials for your project from our design studio. This relocation to a 3000 square foot design studio has also allowed for new additions to our team, as we are now a team of 8!

Recently we have also had the pleasure of completing a celebrity couple’s Vancouver heritage loft. The clients said ‘run with it’ and we did! As you could imagine our creativity went into overdrive. It was our desire to encapsulate the true character of the owners.  We created a space rooted in urban industrial elements, rich in colour, fun, and coziness. Notoriously, when we love a project it tends to win awards. The kitchen from this project won the Red Beacon Home Service Award in the category of Best Kitchen.

To view photographs of our Hamilton project take a look on our Houzz profile as well as a video tour on our Youtube.

With now over 300 residential as well as over 20 hospitality and commercial projects we believe we have the expertise to take on anything. If you or anyone you know is thinking of doing a project we would greatly appreciate being considered for it. Not only do we offer a referral incentive, it just feels good to share something you love!
